Healthear's patented botanical complex (TS) — a combination of Cuscutae Semen and Rehmanniae Radix Preparata — has been studied for its potential role in supporting healthy auditory signaling as the body ages. In preclinical research led by scientists at InVivoTec and Kyung Hee University, TS was associated with the restoration of key markers of inhibitory nerve signaling in the auditory pathway, along with improvements in early-stage hearing response measures in aging animal models.

The botanical complex behind Healthear is protected under U.S. Patent No. 9,694,043 B2, "Composition for Preventing or Treating Hearing Loss," granted July 4, 2017 to researchers at Kyung Hee University. The patent covers a composition using Cuscuta japonica Choisy extract, alone or combined with Rehmannia glutinosa extract, and preclinical studies described in it found the combination helped protect hearing thresholds and inner-ear hair cells following noise exposure.
The patent protects the underlying formulation; findings referenced are from preclinical research and have not been evaluated by the FDA.
